Rustic antique brass and oak Pitcher or Jug
Rustic antique pitcher made from shaped solid oak staves which are held together by a brass band, secured by brass rivets. Loosely designed around a traditional barrel shape the jug has a large and well proportioned brass spout and handle. Today these pitchers are often used as umbrella stands or simply as a decorative antiques.
History ~ Circa 1860, England. May have been used in apple orchards to provide cider for the workers picking apples at harvest time.
Condition ~ Good antique condition, probably not watertight.
