Royal Staffordshire Auld Lang Syne Teacup & Saucer

A large oversized bone china teacup and saucer, sometimes referred to as a breakfast teacup. Transfer printed with some additional hand painted areas, depicting an Oriental landscape scene. The message "Take a cup of kindness yet, for Auld Lang Syne" has been printed onto the inside of the rim of the cup. It refers to the Scottish poem written by Robert Burns, which has become the traditional rhyme used when raising a glass to toast the New Year.
History ~
Circa 1900, made by Arthur J Wilkinson at the Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Burlsem, Staffordshire, England.
