Large pastel portrait on canvas showing a mysterious woman dressed in black against a barely etched background. This is wonderfully evocative of France in late 1800s. This lady looks as if she may have been Parisienne.
History ~ Verso the original backing card is stamped with the details of a road in Paris. Circa 1900, France.
Condition ~ Consistent for a pastel of this age. There is a watermark running along the bottom of the canvas and the pastel drawing is fragile to potential future damage.
