A distinctive and eye-catching Ironstone transfer ware Meat Plate or Platter. Hand coloured in rich maroons, red Japan shades, peach and grey. A bold design showing an Oriental scene with pagodas and ornate flowers.
History ~
This design was known as Pattern 144, India. It was either produced by Ridgway, Morley, Wear & Co (1835 - 42) or by Ridgway & Morley (1842 - 45). On the reverse it does not say 'Real Stone China' indicating that the platter has an earthenware body.
Condition ~
Fair antique condition, there is significant paint loss and one small chip to the rim, shown in the images.
