Large 19th century antique rustic pottery French terracotta Olive Pot

An exceptional and large terracotta olive pot, the surface of which has aged beautifully to a faded and soft peach colour. Over the surface of the terracotta is a mottled lichen like natural patination which has taken many years to mature. Full of
rustic simplicity and centuries of history this olive pot has a great deal of character that is impossible to replicate.
History ~
Mid 1800s or earlier, Provence, France.
Condition ~
Good antique condition, some historic unevenness and old indentations to the lip of the rim, visible in the images. At some point the pot has been mounted onto a four pronged base to ensure it stands upright independently. In addition there is a free standing circular metal base which has been hand forged to ensure the pot stands upright with a wider circumference base, which is not attached to the pot. Either method ensures the pot stands upright.
