Kilim antique cushions

Two kilim antique cushions made from handwoven wool in earthy tones which has been naturally hand dyed to give shades of madder red, indigo, walnut brown and soft ochres.  Each cushion is backed with antique French linen which has been hand dyed to a complimentary indigo blue.

History ~
Early 1900s, Anatolia, (modern day Turkey).
These flatwoven antique textiles were created on simple horizontal looms using a slit-weave tapestry technique, which enables the sharp-edged geometric patterns to be woven.

Condition ~
Good antique condition.  There are subtle variations and minor irregularities in the original weave, as they are handmade.

Measurements ~
When laid flat, before inserting the pad, each cushion is 19" or 48 cm at the widest point and is then filled with a 22" or 56 cm feather pad.
