French antique oak Sideboard or Buffet with ornate bird, fish and lion carvings
French oak buffet with some wonderful carvings. These include a gadrooned edge to the top and lion heads to each of the drawers on the front. The cupboard doors are carved with pheasants and fish with carved mouldings framing the edges of the doors.
History ~
circa 1890, France.
Condition ~
Good antique condition, some light ring marks on the surface and some signs of wear consistent with normal usage of furniture of this age. There is a working lock for the cupboard doors but no lock for the top drawers, which open by recessed drawer pulls underneath the lion carvings.
