Jacques Maurice Dessertenne was a French painter and illustrator, with an active career between 1897 and the mid 1920s. He studied under several influential French artists including Charles-Gabriel Forget and worked mostly in Paris. His range of works included zoological and anatomical engravings, paintings and historia. His son, Jacques-Henri Dessertenne (1906–1987) was also a recognised painter and draughtsman and they collaborated on some works. Dessertenne also had a daughter, Jacqueline (1908–1924), which died of tuberculosis.
