Decorative antique Dudson parian Fern relief white Jug or Pitcher

A decorative antique Dudson Victorian parian pitcher or jug which has a repeated relief design of fern leaves running around the sides.

History ~
This jug is in made in the 'New Fern' pattern, which was produced between 1860 - 1880 as one of the registered designs of James Dudson. There is no impress or makers mark, so it could have been produced slightly earlier than 1860 when this was common practice.

The Dudson family had a long and successful business in Staffordshire pottery manufacture. In 1800 Richard Dudson opened a works in Broad Street and Thomas Dudson ran the newer Hope Street Works between 1809 - 1838. In 1838 James Dudson took over the works until his death in 1882. After this time the company passed to James Thomas Dudson, who significantly changed the direction of the company by identifying new potential markets in the leisure and tourism industries.

Good antique condition, no chips or cracks. Slight ware to the parian surface.
