Decorative plaque, showing Bacchus, the Greek God of Agriculture and Wine. He has swirling serpents on top of his head and is surrounded by an elaborate series of carvings which include grapes, figs and walnuts. The plaque is made from solid French oak and the remnants of a bottle green velvet trim are still visible under a carefully studded top covering. This is a wonderful decorative piece.
History ~ Late 1800s, France.
Condition ~ Excellent condition consistent with age and light usage, no damage to the carvings.
