Decorative antique Brazilian Butterfly Tray

A decorative antique tray featuring intricately arranged butterfly wings in shimmering iridescent colours which have been arranged in a symmetrical pattern, with the central feature being a wonderful violet Morpho Butterfly. The design forms a kaleidoscopic of soft shades of mauve with strong shades of natural earth tones, gold and autumnal orange and soft browns. The wings are set under glass within a richly coloured mahogany and fruitwood frame with a geometric inlaid banding inside the surround. Each side has a recessed groove underneath to aid holding the tray.
History ~
Brazil, circa 1940. There is a faintly visible stamp on the back of the tray.
Condition ~
Good antique condition with light wear to the wooden frame consistent with age. The butterfly wing composition remains well-preserved, vibrant, and largely intact beneath the glass.
