Decorative antique Brazilian Butterfly Tray

A decorative antique tray featuring intricately arranged butterfly wings in shimmering iridescent colours which have been arranged in a symmetrical pattern. Their design forms a kaleidoscopic of soft predominantly shades of violet and soft grey with gold and natural earth tones. The wings are set under glass within a richly coloured mahogany and fruitwood frame with a geometric inlaid banding inside the surround. Each side has a cut out hand hold for ease of use.
History ~
Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, circa 1940. The maker or retailer's paper label is present on the back of the tray.
Condition ~
Good antique condition. Minor age-appropriate wear to the wood consistent with use and age. The butterfly wing artwork remains vibrant with very few losses beneath the glass.
