A rare Victorian cast iron garden antique table by Coalbrookdale. With a pierced circular top resting on tripod legs in cast iron relief - decorated with three griffins, who's wings taper down to become table legs with cast foliate feet. The overall design creates a sense of drama and gives the table presence, and in its original condition, with so many layers of paint still present, it has become a wonderful decorative garden antique.
History ~ 1870s, Coalbrookdale, England. This design features in Coalbrookdale Castings Catalogue, Section II, page 199, item 50, as shown in the final images.
Condition ~ At some time in the past a bolt has been lost and replaced by wire cable. The table is still strong and steady for everyday use. There is one small loss to the decorative detailing, both visible in the final two images before the brochure.
