Antique Pekin oversized flow blue Cup and Saucer, Royal Staffordshire
Beautiful polychrome breakfast cup and saucer in the ‘Pekin’ pattern, produced using vibrant cobalt blues and oranges.
History ~ Made by Royal Staffordshire Pottery. Circa 1900.
Produced using the Flow Blue technique which was invented by Staffordshire potters in the Regency era, sometime in the 1820s. The technique involved using paper stencils to apply a decorative blue pattern onto white pottery, during the firing process in the kiln the blue glaze blurred or ‘flowed’. The most desirable and sought after pottery was created in a vivid cobalt blue.
Condition~ Good antique condition, light wear.
