A charming antique painting completed in watercolour and ink, showing a pastoral country scene of a pretty young maid. She is in a slightly comical pose carrying her basket in one hand and a rake with a terracotta jug swinging from its prongs in the other, wearing totally inappropriate shoes. In the background are faintly painted cottages and shrubbery.
History ~ Early 1800s, Georgian, England.
Condition ~ Slight historic repairs to the oval frame, which has been overpainted.
