A pair of shallow bowls made from natural malachite, each of which has been polished and hand finished with a narrow brass border. Malachite is a decorative natural specimen and these dishes showcase its natural tactile surface - which is full of variation and shows an array of textures and colours ranging from rich shades of vivid green to veined swirling natural patterns.
History ~
Mid century 1950s - 1970s. Malachite has been historically associated with various healing properties and positive energy attributes. It has been admired and prized since 4,000 BC, particularly in ancient Egyptian, Roman, Russian and European cultures.
Condition ~
Good antique condition, no visible damage. The two dishes are not identical, but are very similar is size and appearance.
