19th century Georgian decorative antique papier-mâché Tray

A large oval shaped Georgian black antique papier-mâché tray - with elegant and unusually deep raised edges, in a highly curved three dimensionally moulded form. These outer borders have strong remnants of decorative gilded patterning, which adds to the patina, authenticity and decorative appeal of this antique.
History ~ Early 1800s, England.
Condition ~ The papier-mâché is lightly crazed throughout and has acquired a soft patina, and the gilt decorative detailing is worn, as shown in the images. The reverse of the tray shows that it has been hung on a wall at some point in its past, as there are several clear marks and losses to the surface. The tray is strong and solid.
