19th century antique ormolu and glass Casket or Jewellery Box
Decorative antique French jewellery box or casket with bevelled glass and ormolu frame, supported on pretty and delicate feet. Inside is the original red satin button backed cushion, which is now distressed.
History ~
Napoleon III, France. These boxes were often given as wedding gifts and used to store wedding rings.
Condition ~
The actual box itself is in very good condition, the fastener works well and is secured, there are some minor scratches to the glass but no chips. The satin used to form the cushion has disintegrated in places.
