History ~ There is a glimpse into her history on the reverse of the painting, with an inscription which reads ' Madelaine Verlin, wife of Jean George Hubersseville to Nicolas Jacquemin' Indicating that the painting may have been left to Nicolas Jacquemin.
19th century, France.
Condition ~ The paintwork is fragile and has light cracks throughout, with a more substantial crack along the left-hand side of the painting, there are no rips or repairs. The frame is later, but has acquired a good, aged colour over time.
