19th century antique brass & copper Cauldron or Log Basket

A decorative antique cauldron which could now be used as a Log Basket. It is made from a substantial and heavy piece of brass, which has been hand beaten to produce a subtle mottled effect, having aged down over many years and acquired a good patina. It has a horizontal line of rivets around its circumference above which is a rolled rim in copper and to the sides are two large fastenings - beautifully hand forged, for the iron swing handle.
History ~
19th century, France.
Originally used as a cooking pot or to heat water over a fire.
Condition ~
Good antique condition, there is one tiny hold in the base.
