18th century antique ceramic rustic stoneware Chinese Wine Flagon
This 18th century antique ceramic Chinese wine flagon is a distinctive decorative antique with a strong presence. It has a strong ovoid form and design with a wonderful dark treacle coloured glaze, subtly variegated with warm russet and iron-toned mottling, which is the result of high-temperature firing and the mineral-rich composition of its glaze. It is clearly hand made, with marks on the surface where it has been moulded into shape by the artisan who made it. The surface irregularities and effects of the kiln firing contribute to its interesting visual texture and to its authenticity.
History ~
