Angela George – Arundel Antiques Dealer
Growing up in the North West visiting old antique shops in Liverpool was an early passion of mine. Having studied Medieval History at University in London I joined the BBC and had a successful career in TV production for many years.
Settling in West Sussex enabled me to rekindle my passion for antiques and I started dealing in
antique textiles -
old quilts, linen sheets and pretty
antique embroidered cushions. Nowadays, I also buy
English antiques at fairs and auctions, always searching for eye-catching
decorative antiques. On visits to France, I search out
garden antiques, beautifully worn
jardinières and
antique garden planters etc. It is such a pleasure to discover elegant Napoleon III
antique armchairs, some in need of re-upholstery, which I organise, and
rustic antiques, such as chests of drawers and old oak or fruitwood farmhouse
antique tables.
Mid-century modern paintings and affordable British, French and other European art are an increasing passion. Nothing gives me more pleasure than finding an unusual and striking
antique oil painting that captures a moment in time, or a distinctive portrait of an interesting face to ponder over.
Currently, I am based in an antique and interiors venue in Arundel, which is a renowned antiques destination, set in the heart of Sussex. But all of my antiques can be browsed here, on this website, which is constantly being updated.
I am an antique dealer who likes to buy at source, often out early in the morning, scouring the far corners of fairs and markets. This keeps me focused and my antique stock fresh; it also enables me to be competitive and affordable. I sell regularly to the antique trade, interior designers and decorators, as well as to retail customers and private contacts.
At Mist Antiques and Decorative Interiors, my unique selection of antiques is shaped by my values of authenticity, quality and accountability, and founded in my passion for storytelling, simple beauty and visual pleasure. Please take a moment to explore!
